Dr. Joe Louis Dr. Joe Louis, assistant professor in Construction Engineering Management at Oregon State University, will teach undergraduate and graduate classes in heavy civil operations and equipment, and analytical tools for construction. Dr. Louis's research interest lies at the intersection of simulation, visualization, and automation within the context of construction operations. He draws upon concepts in these areas to provide construction managers with better means of planning, monitoring, and controlling their operations to improve safety, maximize productivities, and minimize equipment idle times. Dr. Louis is passionate about engaging with the broader community and has organized university level TEDx talks. He was awarded the Zimmerman Award for Innovation and Outreach at Purdue University for his efforts at introducing robotics to middle school students. Dr. Yelda Turkan Dr. Yelda Turkan, Assistant Professor in Construction Engineering Management at Oregon State University, teaches construction contracts and virtual design and construction courses at undergraduate and graduate level. In 2015, she was awarded with ASCE ExCEEd Fellowship for completing the ExCEEd teaching workshop organized and supported by ASCE. In her research, Dr. Turkan investigates how LiDAR and virtual design and construction (VDC) technologies can help improve project controls. Her research interests are centered on the areas of sensing, automation, and information technology (IT) for construction engineering and management, infrastructure asset management, and transportation. Dr. Turkan is a member of number of committees, including ASCE TCCIT Data Sensing and Analytics Committee, CII Academic Committee, TRB Geospatial Data Acquisition in Design and Construction Committee, and TRB Information Systems and Technology Committee. She serves as the secretary of the ASCE TCCIT Education Committee. She also serves as a reviewer for a number of journals including ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, ASCE Computing in Civil Engineering, Automation in Construction, and Advanced Engineering Informatics. Dr. Xuegang (Jeff) Ban Dr. Xuegang (Jeff) Ban is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington. His research interests are in transportation network system modeling and simulation, urban traffic system modeling and operations, transportation big data analytics, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). His research develops modeling tools to study dynamic transportation networks with emerging technologies and systems such as connected/automated vehicles and shared mobility. He also works on urban traffic systems modeling and performance evaluation using mobile sensing data. He is the recipient of the NSF CAREER Award (2010), and the New Faculty Award by the Council of University Transportation Centers and American Road & Transportation Builders Association (2012). His research has been funded by the NSF, US DOT, Volvo Foundation, and various state and local transportation agencies. Dr. Ban serves on the Network Modeling Committee (ADB30) and the Vehicle Highway Automation Committee (AHB30) of Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academies. He was the elected Vice Chair (2010- 2011) and Chair (2012-2013) of the ITS SIG (cluster) under Transportation Science and Logistics (Society) of INFORMS. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems, Networks and Spatial Economic, and Transportmetrica B: Dynamics, and serves on the editorial board of Transportation Research Part B, Part C. His research has produced more than 100 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. More details of his research work can be found here (http:// faculty.washington.edu/banx/). 8 Pacific Northwest Transportation Consortium
