Access Access to HEALWA resources is available at healwa.org. Participation As of November 15, 2012, more than 19,000 licensed healthcare providers in Washington are registered HEALWA users. This represents an 11% increase in registered users over 2011, and just over 12% of total eligible users. The fact that HEALWA resources are available to eligible licensed health care providers at any time, from any computer that has internet access, and the availability through HEALWA of accredited Continuing Education modules for Registered Nurses, continue to be incentives to encourage eligible licensed health care providers to activate their access. New for 2011-2012 The program added resources during the year, with the acquisition of more than 50 additional electronic books, more than 700 additional full-text journals, and VisualDx, a popular image-based diagnostic tool. Publicity continues to be a vital cornerstone to the program. Staff has continued efforts to raise awareness and promote HEALWA to eligible licensed health care providers in Washington. Planning Retreat On July 31, 2012, HEALWA staff convened a retreat to assist HEALWA in moving forward with a directed approach to provide eligible health care providers with information about HEALWA. The retreat took place at the UW Faculty Club in Seattle, WA with 30 attendees, including Rep. Eileen Cody (D-34th District) and staff from Governor Gregoire's office. The goals of the retreat were to establish an Advisory Committee, to obtain feedback from stakeholders about HEALWA, and to help set future directions for the program. The feedback gathered from retreat participants centered on concerns about the site's usability, how well it has been promoted, access to resources that HEALWA cannot offer, and access to continuing education for providers other than Registered Nurses. HEALWA has formed an Advisory Committee comprised of interested retreat participants, and will solicit further input from that group to implement the ideas from the retreat. Publicity and Promotion The program continued our outreach efforts to increase awareness about HEALWA, and continued to coordinate a promotional campaign for the purpose of increasing eligible licensed health care providers' awareness of this service. Key promotional efforts that were made during the 2011-2012 period include exhibits and presentations at state meetings, conferences, and continuing education events for various professional associations in Washington, including: •Several nursing continuing education events that served Registered Nurses from throughout Washington state •Washington Academy of Physician Assistants •Several groups of hospital and community-based Registered Nurses at various locations •Educational and promotional efforts reached health care providers located throughout the state, via their attendance at statewide conferences. Through these efforts HEALWA reached more than 3,500 health care providers at conferences and exhibits. 2011-2012 Annual Report 3
