Social Media HEALWA has maintained a presence in social media with the HEALWA Facebook page (www.facebook. com/HEALWA) and Twitter account (@HealWA). Staff use both channels to promote new resources and to educate users about how HEALWA resources can support their professional practice, as well as to solicit feedback and suggestions for improvement from users. The Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) modules available through HEALWA, at no additional charge, are still a popular benefit with Registered Nurses to help them fulfill the Continuing Competency requirements. Staff continues to specifically promote this resource to Registered Nurses at in-person exhibits and training opportunities and is investigating opportunities to provide access to CE modules for other professions. Budget Summary Funding received from the Washington State Department of Health (under DOH Contract #N17243-2) was used as noted in the Expenditures statement (page 6). The vast majority (95%) of funds were spent on electronic books and journals. Once again, some reminders regarding the use of HEALWA funds: •HEALWA resources are subscriptions, not one-time purchases, and as such are renewed and paid for annually. –Annual subscription renewals include inflationary cost increases that are set by the publishers. These increases may be 10% or more in some cases. –Payment will enable UW to continue the availability of HEALWA resources to June 30, 2014 in most cases, with a few renewal dates falling in September and October 2014. HEALWA funds are used to maintain current subscriptions, to develop additional training and provide educational opportunities, and for additional promotional services to increase eligible licensed health care providers' awareness of HEALWA.
