Bill Rorabaugh American Hippies (Cambridge University Press, 2015) Jere Bacharach (Emeritus) was co-winner of the MESA Mentoring Award, for the Middle East Studies Association of North America. Purnima Dhavan and Jordanna Bailkin secured an AHA Career Diversity Grant for the department. Patricia Ebrey was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Christoph Giebel received the Academic Freedom Award from the American Association of University Professors, UW Chapter. Carlos Gil (Emeritus) received the Winter 2016 NABE Pinnacle Book Achievement Award for We Became Mexican American: How Our Immigrant Family Survived to Pursue the American Dream (2012). James Gregory was elected to a two-year term as president of the Labor and Working Class History Association. Raymond Jonas was named as a 2015-16 Andrew W. Mellon Research Fellow by the Harry Ransom Center. He and grad students Roneva Keel and Shruti Patel also received a Digital Humanities Summer Fellowship from University of Victoria. Devin Naar was the inaugural recipient of the Isaac Alhadeff Professorship in Sephardic Studies. Linda Nash was named John Calhoun Smith Memorial Endowed Professor, effective January 2016. Josh Reid received a 2016 Frederick Jackson Turner Honorable Mention for his book The Sea Is My Country. Ileana Rodriguez-Silva was named a 2016-17 Society of Scholars Fellow by the Simson Center for the Humanities. William Rorabaugh was appointed Dio Richardson Endowed Professor in History, effective October 2015. Benjamin Schmidt received a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council for his upcoming book project. He was also appointed as chair of the International Advisory Board of the Low Countries Historical Review (BMGN), and to the editorial board of the Journal of Modern History. Robin Stacey was appointed to the editorial board of a new journal, the North American Journal of Celtic Studies. Lynn Thomas, together with two colleagues in medical anthropology at UW Bothell, received a Simpson Center grant to study the history of global health partnerships in Africa. Charity Urbanski was honored with the Joff Hanauer Endowed Faculty Fellowship in History, effective October 2015. Adam Warren was awarded a John Carter Brown Library Interdisciplinary Cluster Fellowship, and elected to the editorial board of the Hispanic American Historical Review. Anand Yang was named to a College of Arts & Sciences Term Professorship, effective July 2015. Glennys Young was named the Jon Bridgman Endowed Professor in History, effective January 2016.
